It can be transliterated from English (أتريوم), but I think the aforementioned or the less common (دهليز) are more convenient.

تريوم في العمارة, هو مساحة مفتوحة واسعة تقع بالقرب من مدخل المبنى (مدنية أو دينية)، وعادة ما تكون لعامة الناس. المصطلح اتريوم مشتق من اللاتيني. في العمارة الرومانية كانت مفتوح على ثلاثة جوانب ويحيط به من كل جانب اروقة معمدة.

في العمارة الدينية الاتريم أو الفناء كان فضاء للكنيسة ، وهو رواق بأعمدة مربع في وسطة جرن المعمودية (حيث الناس كانوا ينتظرون للمعمودية). من وجهة نظر أسلوبية, الرواق المعمد للعمارة الرهبانية استأنف اتريم الفيلات الرومانية.

الاتريم للمباني الحديثة يمكن ان تكون مفتوحة على عدة مستويات (بكامل الارتفاع) ، أو أن تغطى بنوافذ واسعة ، من أجل إعطاء إضاءة طبيعية جيدة.
