ليس للتشويش على إجابة صالح الجيدة طبعاً، لكن باستخدام مقاربة سيميولوجية، فإن وضع "نوليدج" هنا متروكة على المطلق يتطلب الحصول على ترجمة مطلقة بدورها.

مشكلة اسخدام "معرفة أساسية" تظهر في كون التعبير نفسه غير قابل للإطلاق، و هو ما ظهر في تعديل صالح الأخير لإجابته

Explanation:
I was about to agree to one (may be both!) translations above. But a closer inspection to the word "specialized", gives you the meaning of "fundamental".
I believe knowledge might be translated as
علمه العام أو النظري
كمقابل لكلمة المتخصص
