English to Arabic translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Computers: Hardware / Scanners | | English term or phrase: Descreening | Descreening helps to remove wavy patterns from images scanned from magazines or newspapers.
From a scanner user guide |

Descreening allows you to scan photos or images from newspapers or magazines without risking a "moiré" pattern when you print them out. Offset printed photos (newspapers, magazines, etc.) are composed of small dots. When they are rendered as pixels and then printed again as dots, they often take on a strange "weave-like" pattern, known as moiré (pronounced "mo-ray"). Descreening blends the dots in the image when they are scanned so that they appear to have "continuous tones" and look good when viewed and printed.

The array of dots used in the magazine halftone printing process is called a screen, and the software filter to remove moiré is called a Descreen filter.

You can see in this site two pictures, The first one suffers from the moiré pattern. The second one used the ScanWizard Descreen filter set to Magazine resolution.
