في البرمجة الشئيئة أو الكائنية التوجه OOP، الكائنات هي أول الأشياء التي تفكر بها حينما تفكر بتصميم بنامج، وهي أيضاً وحدات في الشيفرة تنشأ من العمليات. في الحقيقة كل كائن ينشأ من فئة class، وكلما كانت الفئة العامة معرفة بشكل أكبر كلما سنحت للكائنات المعرفة منها بمشاركة واستخدام ما تتيحه الفئة من الخصائص والطرق methods كما سمحت لكم بإعادة استخدام تعريفات الفئة في الشيفرة الخاصة بكل كائن. كل كائن يعتبر ممثل لفئة خاصة بكل ما تحتويه هذه الفئة من الطرق الطرق methods و الإجراءات procedures و المتغيرات variables . الكائن هو بالفعل الشئ الذي يُشغّل في الحاسوب.
