formal vs. informal vs. non-formal

Explanation:

Formal
Informal
Non-formal
All non-formal and informal and formal exist and differ in meaning. They are not the same.

formal vs. informal vs. non-formal
suggestion

Explanation:
I have found the following interesting information on the difference btw informal and non-formal (although some sites claim they are used interchangeably):

formal education- the structured educational system usually provided or supported by the state, chronologically graded and running from primary to tertiary institutions;

informal education - learning that goes on in daily life and can be received from daily experience, such as from family, friends, peer groups, the media and other influences in a person’s environment;

and non-formal education- educational activity which is not structured and takes place outside the formal system.

The main difference between informal and non-formal education is the fact that the first is non-voluntary and mostly passive whereas the latter results from an individual voluntary action and is mostly active.

"Formal education" is sometimes translated as تعليم رسمي or تعليم نطامي
"Non-formal education" would be تعليم غير رسمي or غير نظامي
For "informal education" I would suggest (based on the definition above) something like التعليم العرضي or (see reference below,
although this would make the distinction as unclear as the English terms.

) Formal Instruction
Non formal Instruction
Informal Instruction .

formal vs. informal vs. non-formal
Please see the following definitions:

Explanation:
Formal education: Formal education is defined as education provided in the system of schools, colleges, universities and other formal educational institutions and that normally constitutes a continuous ladder of full-time education for children and young people, generally beginning at age 5 to 7 and continuing up to 20 or 25 years old or above.

Non-formal education: Non-formal education is defined as any organized and sustained educational
activities that do not correspond exactly to the above definition of formal education. Non-formal
education may therefore take place both within and outside educational institutions, and cater to persons of all ages. Depending on country contexts, it may cover educational programmes to impart adult literacy, basic education for out-of-school children, life skills, work skills and general culture. Non-formal education programmes do not necessarily follow the ladder system, and may have a differing duration.

Informal education: Informal education is education that is not organized. Informal learning can be either intentional (e.g. participation in short lectures or reading books or journals) or unintentional (occurring by chance or as a by-product of everyday activities).

formal vs. informal vs. non-formal

Explanation:
As normally used, the term formal education refers to the structured educational system provided by the state for children. In most countries, the formal education system is state-supported and state-operated. In some countries, the state allows and certifies private systems which provide a comparable education.

INFORMAL EDUCATION takes place outside schools and is mediated by resources and resource people in the community.
In contrast, nonformal education refers to education which takes place outside of the formally organized school. Most typically, the term or phrase nonformal education is used to refer to adult literacy and continuing education for adults.
