forward
تمهيد

Explanation:
Although the word تمهيد stands for preamble, most likely, but it is also a translation of the word "introduction" which has the same meaning as "forward" = مقدمة

It might not be the accurate translation of forward, but again you can replace it with preamble :)

Thanks

Note added at 12 mins (2007-01-15 08:16:43 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------

First, it should be written as FOREWORD
It is a short piece of writing at the beginning of a book, sometimes praise by a famous person or someone who is not the writer

sometimes it is referred to as تقريظ
But usually with classical books or others on religious issues..

so introduction is مقدمة
Foreword توطئة/تقديم
Why تقديم and what is the difference?
introduction is usually written by the writer of the book as a summary of the material presented.
Foreword is usually written by other writers on the book and the writer...

Regards
