Geography
English term or phrase: Mesoamerica
A region extending south and east from central Mexico to include parts of Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In pre-Columbian times it was inhabited by diverse civilizations, including the Mayan and the Olmec.

In some writings from the 1920s and 1930s the alternative term Middle America was used to refer to Mesoamerica, but that acception of the term has generally fallen out of favor. See Middle America.

Can I say أميركا الوسطى? And if so, how to distinguish then between "Mesoamerica" and "Central America" in Arabic? I came across both terms in my documentary.

I would appreciate any help!

أمريكا الوسطى أو بعض الأحيان أمريكا المركزية
Explanation:
It is also referred to as Central America, the latter of which also includes Panama, El-Slavador. Please see link for detailed information. Note, Mexico is a part of North America and perhaps the difference here lies in the fact that parts of Mexico is included in Meso-America.

I might add this quote from the link cited:
" there was a nation of Central America in the early 19th century, consisting of the present day nations of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica (and a portion of the modern Mexican state of Chiapas). This was sometimes known as the United Provinces of Central America or the United States of Central America.

The related term Mesoamerica (occasionally also called "Middle America") is used in English mostly restricted to referring to the Pre-Columbian Native American cultures of this region, which extended north into central Mexico."

I think that should pretty much answer your question.

You could call it أمريكا الوسطى التاريخية. I hope this would help.

mesoamerica
ما بين الأمريكتين، أواسط الأمريكتين

Explanation:
although the three terms refer to the same geographical location, but since they have three alternative names in English, you could as well give them three alternatives in Arabic. For example:

Mesoamerica = أواسط الأمريكتين، ما بين الأمريكتين
على غرار بلاد الرافدين أي ما بين النهرين
mesopotamia

Middle America = وسط الأمريكتين

Central America = أمريكا الوسطى
