I suggest you transliterate the place name لا بوانت بيسكاد
then add immediately after the transliterated name
الرايس حميدو حالياً

between brackets. That's what i'd have done. Hope this helps.

Hi again. The text is about natural resources in North Africa, as currently. How do you propose we transliterate the French? I have an allergy to transliterating when there are local (albeit older) names in Arabic, but I will stick to your recommendations.

... translation or "equivalent" here. If i were in your shoes, i would rather transliterate La Pointe Pescade, since it was the name of the Municipality under the French rule. IOW, if the text you are translating is about Algeria in the fifties for exp.

Hello again Sam. Not racing for Kudoz points:) I understood the point behind your question. But things are much more complicated than may seem at first glance. "La Pointe-Pescade" is the FORMER name of Raïs-Hamidou. One can hardly speak about an "Arabic"

Hi Assya. We have been battling names like this for a few weeks now - seems that most what is written about North Africa is in French, and it is extremely difficult to find the names in Arabic. I know where PP is, the problem was finding it in Arabic.
