الثالثة تأتي بعدة معاني أيضاً منها معنى مشترك مع الكلمتين الأخريين وهو الارتفاع لكن عادة يتم استخدامها لطول القامة وتعني أيضاً : قمة, ارتفاع , علو, الشهوق أي شاهق, ومرتفع

Explanation:
تستخدم elevation لبيان ارتفاع كتلة ما عن السطح، كالجبل مثلا في ارتفاعه عن سطح البحر فهو يمتد"بكتلته" من سطح البحر أو الأرض إلى أعلى حتى يصل إلى 1000 متر مثلا، أما altitude فتعنى "تواجد" شيء ما على ارتفاع محدد من سطح ما، وأفضل مثال لذلك هو الطائرة، فهي لا تشغل الحيز من الأرض إلى السماء حتى 1000 متر مثلا، بل هي فقط على ارتفاع 1000 متر من سطح الأرض أو البحر.
في رأيي تستخدم كلمة ارتفاع مع إضافة توضيح بسيط للتفرقة بين المعنيين، وحتى إن لم يوضع توضيح فلا حرج.

غالبًا height يقصد بها الطول.. ولكنها مساوية تقريبًا في المعنى لـ elevation

في هذه الحالة يمكن استخدام التعبيرات بحرية مثل الارتفاع هو العلو... أو هو زيادة المسافة الرأسية/العمودية ... أو التصاعد...

Asker: Many thnx for detailed explanation. It's a glossary. I have 3 options during translation 1. require to have unique equivalent in Arabic
2. To omit whole term in case of no equivalent [especially if the term mentioned twice in short and regular form, short can be omitted in case of no well know arabic equivalent]
3. several terms with one Arabic equivalent: the Arabic term written once followed by numerated definitions.
So I see ur suggestion may be the best. What do you suggest to manage same words found in the complete definition, for example can I say : ارتفاع هو الارتفاع ........؛؟
