Après la documentation nouvelle apportée par M. Shahid et l'étude, conduit avec une intelligence souple, fine, parfois un peu subtile, qu'il a consacrée aux "Arshaniana" (le Martyre d'Arethas est d'une tout autre origine, mais son auteur a utilize les ecrits de Simeon), la question, si vivement débattue jadis, de l'authenticité de la lettre de Simeon éditée par Guidi ne semble plus devoir se poser.
