لنجاح اي برنامج لابد ان يكون متوافق مع البرامج الي سبقته بنفس النتج. هذا مايسمى بالتوافق الرجعي. التوافق الرجعي جزء من مشاكل استعمال الحواسيب يطلق عليها مشكلة التراث (ترجمة حرفية للكلمة). عند بناء اي اصدار جديد من اي منتج فلابد ان ناخذ باعتبارنا تاريخه.
