HIMAYAT AL-ISTITHMAR is too general. It could describe just about anything (an insurance policy, a Swiss bank account, a tax shelter, etc.). A hedge (as defined above) is much more specific. It is a transaction (buying or selling of securities) for the purpose of minimizing the risk of market fluctuations. That includes selling overpriced securities, diversification, and similar transactions. |
