set-top box =
<communications, networking> (STB) Any electronic device designed to produce output on a conventional televesion set (on top of which it nominally sits) and connected to some other communications channels such as telephone, ISDN, optical fibre or cable. The STB usually runs software to allow the user to interact with the programmes shown on the television in some way.

من الواضح أن استخدام كلمة "الفوقي" هو ترجمة حرفية لكلمة "top" لأن هذا الجهاز غالبا يوضع فوق (أعلى) التلفزيون، لكني لا استسيغ استخدامها حرفيا عند الترجمة خاصة أن هذا الجهاز يوضع الآن أسفل التلفزيون في الطاولة المعدة لهذا الأمر إلا أننا لن نسميه "صندوق الجهاز السفلي". فأولا وأخيرا هذا الجهاز هو جهاز رسيفر/استقبال رقمي من إنتاج شركة هيوماكس الرائدة في هذا المجال.

-> شكرا محمد، كما أشرت سابقا، فهو في النهاية، جهاز استقبال رقمي من هيوماكس وأجهزة الرسيفر متعددة الوظائف والمزايا وفي النهاية هي أجهزة رسيفر (استقبال). ورابط موقع الجزيرة لا يثبت خطأً ولا ينفي قاعدة، فهو كغيره استعمل أسهل ترجمة وقعت تحت يد محرريه.
