English term or phrase: Prog votes
As the votes were counted, it seemed we had lost. But one of our scrutineers saw 50 Prog votes in the National Party pile. Just like that, we were back on top. I won by 39 votes. And I learnt two lessons: every vote counts, and never give up!

Explanation:
Hi Hossam
Fortunately I could find the link to your text.
You will find in the same paragraph of the phrase in question that the speaker is telling his story when he stood as the candidate of the "Progressive Federal Party" in a by-election in Bellevue/Judith's Paarl
المُتحدث كان واحداً من مرشحي الحزب الفدرالي (الاتحادي) التقدمي

و أرى أن كلمة
Prog
هي لفظة اختصار للحزب الفدرالي التقدمي، وفيما يلي الفقرة محل السؤال لمزيد من الإيضاح

"For me politically, it all began here in Johannesburg 21 years ago, when I stood as the candidate of the Progressive Federal Party in a by-election in Bellevue/Judith's Paarl, for the Johannesburg City Council. As the votes were counted, it seemed we had lost. But one of our scrutineers saw 50 Prog votes in the National Party pile. Just like that, we were back on top. I won by 39 votes. And I learnt two lessons: every vote counts, and never give up. "

prog votes
أصوات تقدمية

Explanation:
I managed to find the source of your article ( I will not disclose it, but to make u sure, it contained the following sentence "So, in this my last speech as your leader" and this article was written around 7th of May)

PROG here is abbreviation for "progressive" as you can see here http://www.abbreviations.com/PROG

so, what you the term you are looking to translate is "Progressive Votes", this can be understood from the context of the whole article about how the political leader speaking was the candidate for the progressive party and such.

another proof that progressive votes were refered to as "Prog Votes" before can be found here http://progressivevoters.tribe.net/thread/fdc76be4-b17b-4a2d...

so translation of prog votes = أصوات تقدمية
