Hi Zarka. This is how we translate it here for the traffic authorities' manuals in Arabic. I don't think there is a word-for-word equivalent, and my memories from Cairo are that jaywalking was THE WAY to go :-)

Nabil Salem: I dont see why you got so uptight about mentioning Cairo. What is wrong with that? Jaywalking is the same all over the world: Cairo, Rome, New York, etc. Jaywalking is crossing the outside the Zebra / Zig Zag lines dedicated for pedestrians crossings.
