This is what I understand. The test is to determine the equipment condition in respect to the initial load required to make the equipment start functioning, usually caused by stresses of its own parts and not by the feeding material.
I estimate there will be additional load tests (whatever they might be called), to test the equipment under operational loads when the material (whatever might be) is being fed to the equipment by gradual load increase.
