Explanation:
This was essentially made as a military term in the beginning. It allows a second user to bypass and override a first user. Say , for instance, that a gunner was aiming at a target when he was hit and died while holding the controls. The function allows a second user, say, the commander of the tank, to over-ride and bypass the dead gunner and gain control of the tank gun and re-aim at new targets despite the fact that the dead gunner is still holding the controls.
In our case, the timer functions as a second user and terminates emmission despite the fact that the user had released the push button. Hope this is clear to our non-military colleagues.

لو تخيلنا مريض على جهاز تنفس صناعى , وفجاة توفى المريض ماذا سيحدث ؟؟ بالفعل سنوقف جهاز التنفس الصناعى لانه لن يجدى بشىء ... لذا نطلق على الايقاف المبكر لجهاز قبل نهاية دورته - مثل غسالة - نطلق عليه كلمة dead man functionality

مثال توضيحى : لو انا مريض لعلاج اشعاعي ومقرر له جلسة علاج زمنها ساعة , وفجاة لاحظ المريض تدهور فى حالة المريض او سرعة بضربات القلب , هنا سيضر لانهاء الجلسة على الفور من خلال الضغط على زر معين وبذلك يكون قد تم التوقف المبكر لجلسة الاشعاع قبل نهاية البرنامج المقرر مسيقا .... هذا مثال للشرح فقط وليس له علاقة بما يحدث فعلا بجلسات العلاج النووى والاشعاعي
