Definition of "stem cells":An unspecialized cell that gives rise to a specific specialized cell, such as a blood cell.

Here is possible context: Medical researchers are interested in using stem cells to repair or replace damaged body tissues because stem cells are less likely than other foreign cells to be rejected by the immune system when they are implanted in the body.

I don't have any context as this is a point among many others of what a certain university's Medical School does.
