English to Arabic translations [PRO] Medical (general) / Medical | | English term or phrase: 5ml q4hrs | | His PRN medications are Acetaminophen 5ml q4hrs, Acetaminophen 325mg suppositoryq4hrs, Ativan 2mg/ml q4 to 6 hrs for agitation, Lactulose 2-3 tsp, Senna 5-10ml and Diastat for seizures greater than 5 minutes or clusters. He had a modified barium swallow study on 2/19/09, showing he can safely have pureed foods and nectar thick liquids. |
| | | خمسة مليلترات كل أربع ساعات | Explanation: The patient's case supports that he is receiving liquid medication which is measured in ml's (neither in mg nor in mm). Linguistically speaking, the number of ml's has to be خمسة and the number of hours has to be أربع. The use of خمس and أربعة would be wrong. Good luck!

Forgot to mention that 5 ml is the equivalent of a teaspoonful, so you may say ملعقة صغيرة كل أربع ساعات. This is an internationally accepted norm when dealing with measurements on prescriptions and is a language that the doctor may use and the pharmacist usually simplifies to the patient or whoever is responsible for looking after him/her as the case here suggests. |
