In some Arab countries, cataract is popularly known as الماء الأبيض, just as glaucoma is sometimes called الماء الأزرق. If you feel that the popular names are appropriate, you can use them; just be careful not to confuse them (they are easily confused).
IOL stands for "intraocular lens," not to be confused with "contact lens."
