| | وزّال | Explanation: Butchers Broom Root
Contains A Mixture Of Steroidal Saponins
Butcher's broom (ruscus aculeatus) is a European member of the lily family with stiff, pointed leaflike twigs, greenish white flowers and shiny red berries. Related to asparagus, its young tender shoots can be eaten. The name butcher's broom comes from its use as a broom in butcher's shops in Europe up until the 20th century.
Broom is translated as وزّال in both Al-mawrid and Oxford dictionaries.
Al-munjid gives the following definition:
الوزّال: جنيبة تكثر في بلدان المتوسط تتميز بساقها المستديرة العديمة الأوراق. لها زهر حلو المنظر، أصفر اللون شاحبه
I am not sure if it is the same plant. These are the only references I could find.
