ستيرويد

Explanation:
From Hitti's New Med. Dictionary: ستيدويد: مدكب من الشحمانيات الشبيهة بالكولسندول. Steroids are very complex; they do all kinds of things, basically they control metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fat. They are hormones, so they arguably stimulate things; but " منشطات " strikes me as too broad. If you look it up in an English dictionary you'll probably find a chemical description: 17-carbon 4-ring blah blah blah. Hitti's dictionary is copyright 1989, so it should be fairly up to date. If it were me I would use the transliteration.

agree  NancyEweiss: Yes they are a group of naturally occuring chemicals (in the body); basically hormones which stimulate several metabolic and other biologic reactions. I agree with using transliteration, as it is used anyway in drug pamphlets.
