But pay attention that designation can't be solely based on direct meaning, but also on the fitness in the cutural context and FUNCTION. For example, Material can be literally translated to مواد but it can't be integrated well in Arabic cultural context, since مواد would be immediately perceived in Arabic as meaning " "military teaching material" or simply "military objects" not تموين. When I answered, I sought an appropriate word in army literature in Egypt, and put it. That doesn't at all mean that قيادة is wrong, it is absolutely right, but it must come with إمداد وتموين to be very typical. But there's one thing I fear you don't grasp as a non-native speaker, إدارة in this very special context can never be understood as I understand a word such as"directorate", I wouldn't have posted it if it carred the meaning of "directorate". For a similar reason, we don't translate "state department" as إدارة but وزارة. |

May one mention a mistake in the spelling: should be
U.S. Army Materiel Command
(That name is often abbreviated as "USAMC" or sometimes just as "AMC.")
That high-level command has ***Army-wide***designated responsibility for development, standardization, manufacture or procurement, distribution, life-cycle support, and disposal of all categories of weapons, equipment, clothing, individual equipment (collectively called materiel), etc. used throughout the US Army.
The equivalent term would be = "qiyaadat al-jaish al-amriikii lilmuwaad al-3skariiya" = قيادة الجيش الامريكي للمواد العسكرية
An alternative term would be = qiyaadat al-muwaad (al-3skariiya) liljaish al-alamriki = قيادة المواد (العسكرية) للجيش الامريكي

The first Arabic term mentioned has been used fairly often during bilateral conferences, joint exercises, and meetings in the US and several countries in the Middle East.

The specialized "command" cited in this thread pertains only to the US Army, and not to all the miitary Services, as every other Service has its own respective designated command for life-cycle support of its own materiel.
Similar situation exists here in Saudi Arabia's military establishment which consists of the Royal Saudi Land Forces, Air Forces, Air Defense Forces, and Naval Forces (plus the SA National Guard, which is a separate standing ground force). Each operates its own version of an AMC-like organization.
