Ms Maya I think there is a difference between the buffet system ( where there is no queuing) and the Chow line lik ein cafeterias. The context makes the distinctionbetween 2 options (buffet/burger chowline). Hope this helps. Best wishes

I found that it can be مقصف عسكري . Check this out:
فإن ما حدث بالفعل هو أن الجنود الاميركيين تناولوا وجباتهم كالمعتاد على شكل بوفية مفتوح مثلما يحدث في أي مقصف عسكري عادى.

So I think we can use مقصف عسكري to mean بوفيه مفتوح since the word بوفيه is not classical Arabic, right?
