صَديق، صَديقة، صَديقي، صَديقتي Explanation: Pronounced: SADEEQ (a male friend), SADEEQA (a female friend), SADEEQI (my male friend), SADEEQATI (my female friend). A few points bear mentioning: 1. Although it is not wrong to use SADEEQI or SADEEQATI, the more idiomatic expressions are YA AKH or YA AKHI (“brother” or “my brother) and YA UKHT or YA UKHTI (“sister” or “my sister”). The word YA in all these expressions is for invocation. Another equally idiomatic set of expressions consists of the words YA AZEEZI and YA AZEEZATI (“my dear,” the former said to a male, the latter to a female). 2. Terms of endearment vary so very widely by region. As you mingle with Arab friends from different regions, you will acquire an appreciation for this interesting fact. 3.
