The text is “"The seven bodies": an expression used by the philosophers to denote seven kinds of minerals or metals: gold (dhahab), silver (fiddah), lead (rasas), black lead (usrub), iron (hadid), copper (nahas) and a hard glass substance (kharsin).”

It is dark gray to black, opaque, and very soft. Its layered structure, with rings of six atoms arranged in widely spaced parallel sheets, gives it its slippery quality. It occurs in nature and is used (mixed with clay) as the "lead" in pencils. It is also used in lubricants, crucibles, polishes, arc lamps, batteries, brushes for electric motors, and nuclear reactor cores.

روى الإمام الربيع بن حبيب في مسنده باب (48) جامع الصلاة، الحديث (297) أبو عبيدة عن جابر بن زيد عن ابن عباس قال: (نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الصلاة بالآنك والشبه) قال الربيع: الآنك القصدير والشبه الصفر الأحمر.
والآنك الذي فسره الإمام الربيع بالقصدير هو الرصاص الخالص ويقال الرصاص الأسود، والشبه هو الصفر الأحمر وهو النحاس فيما يبدو.
قال السالمي: (وإنما نهى عن الصلاة في الآنك والشبه لأنهما من حلية أهل النار، وفي معناهما الحديد وجميع أنواع النحاس). السالمي، شرح الجامع الصحيح ج1 ص 422.
