English term or phrase:cork
Dear all,
What is "Cork" in skiing?
Contexts:
"I have to test the kickers with a Cork 720 or something, just to see what’s possible on the kickers"
Also the commentator says "commenting on one of the skiers' performance:
"Switch Cork 900"
"double cork 10 mute"
"Switch doublw cork 10 mute"
I would be so grateful if there is a glossary for Skiing terms, or any guide.
I got that "A double cork is where you go off axis in a spin, come back to an upright position half way in your air and then cork again"
I still can't get it :( دوران محوري مزدوج ?
I still can't get the ten, and the videos are so misleading. Coz actually I have the video of the episode and I can see but I can't get the difference exactly! :(
I have "switch cork 900" and "double cork 10 mute"
Now, if "cork" is شقلبة جانبية , then What's the diff. bet. "switch cork" and "double cork" and "switch double cork"?
Also if 900 is زاوية دوران , so what is "10" exactly??
How can we translate this in Arabic?!
[Switch Corked 720
In this Ski Trick, it is very essential to look over the shoulder to set the direction of your spin. As you approach the lip, slide your Skis flat. Begin the 180 degree spin as you take off, and then make a corked 540. Tread heavily as you reach the landing then ski away.]
The following might help you:
A cork is a off axis spin that is leaned back, but so that the rider does not go inverted at any point. It is a popular trick, and many pro’s and amateurs do these very well.
Explanation: Side Flip 180 - Rider approaches jump forward, does what looks like a cartwheel through the air, then lands backwards. Known in skiing as the Lincoln Loop; sometimes referred to as the Maheu Flip, after Serge Maheu. Also referred to as a corkscrew. http://www.skiboardplanet.com/page.php?12

It makes sense, but again add the English name to make things clear.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Then if the rider test the kicker with a cork 720, it means
بشقلبة جانبية تنطوي على دورانين كاملين؟
Can we say that? You see, the phrasing is difficult even when you get the meaning.
Asker: or شقلبة جانبية بزاوية دوران 720 درجة ? Does that make sense? Thanks.
