Arabic-supported web browser
Greetings / ahalan wa sahalan...
Sorry that I cannot recommend any English <-> Arabic "translator software." Such an interactive product does not exist for that apparent purpose, as most bilingual products are basically cross-referencing thesauri or glossaries. Their "translation" and reconstruction of phrases and sentences are rudimentary and usually incorrect.
One parallel and hopefully-helpful thing is to install Arabic support on the browser in your student's PC, if that is allowed. MSIE 5.0 (or higher version) includes a free download of Arabic support so your student can receive and read Arabic e-mail and web sites.
Perhaps a more-helpful step would be to enroll him in some strong ESL classes for academic and social / functional purposes, plus coaching and mentoring in your class. That capability would benefit him and the class over the long run.
FWIW, if your student is from the southern and western regions of Sudan, place-origins of the non-Moslem/non-arabized tribal confederations of Nuer, Dinka or Shillukh, his Arabic also might be weak.
