English term or phrase: The Yerevan Puppet Theater.
Hello / Barev,

How would one say in Armenian "The Yerevan Puppet Theater?" (British & Canadian spelling 'theatre'). An example in a sentence might be "We saw Oaksenham (an Armenian pop rock group) perform at the Yerevan Puppet Theater."

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Brian Costello

Thank you Brian!
This is the first and the biggest state puppet theatre in Yerevan.
In formal documentation you should use the official name, for now there are also other puppet theaters in our city, but for informal use this is ok I think.

Armida Alvandyan's answer is what I was looking for. Thank your very much Armida.

However, I acknowledge Armen Hovhanissyan and Karen Sughyan's translations of the theater's official name "The Hovhannes Toumanian State Puppet Theater" named after an Armenian classical author who did a lot of work with fairy tales.

While I was researching the information on the internet, I noticed that both names were used.

In Seattle, we have a fountain whose official name is "The International Fountain." Yet, most people here don't call it that. They call it "The Seattle Center Fountain" or just "The Center Fountain." Only the news media and the politicians seem to call it "The International Fountain."

I think the Seattle situation might be analagous to the one in Yerevan regarding the puppet theater. But I don't know for sure.
