'bad' may be translated as both 'kharap' and 'mondo'. However in the colloquial sense 'kharap' is used. Even in Bengali text 'mondo' is seldom used nowadays.

ও খারাপ স্বভাবের মানুষ।

মন্দ কথা বলতে নেই।
(He is having a bad time)
ওর খারাপ সময় চলছে।

In some cases 'kharap' can be used but not 'mondo'
(The food has turned bad)
খাবারটা খারাপ হয়ে গেছে।(khabar-ta kharap hoye geche)
(He has gone mad)
ওর মাথা খারাপ হয়ে গেছে।(Or matha kharap hoye geche)
In the above cases 'mondo' cannot be used.
'mondo' when used as a prefix or when repeated twice may mean- slow, soft or gentle.
(The car moved slowly)
গাড়ীটি মন্দগতিতে এগিয়ে চললো।(Gari-ta mondogotite egiye chollo)
(A gentle wind is blowing)
মন্দ মন্দ বাতাস ব্ইছে।(mondo mondo batas boiche)

'bod'(বদ)and 'ku' (কু) also mean bad.
(He is a man of bad temper)
ও বদ মেজাজী লোক।(0 bod mejaji lok.)
In the example above 'bod mejaj' means bad or ill-temper.
(She did not agree to his indecent proposal)
সে তার কুপ্রস্তাবে রাজী হল না।(she tar kuprostabe raji holo na).
Here 'ku' means bad or indecent.
'ku' may also mean heinous, contemptible, evil, abominable, base.
'ku' is usually added in the beginning of a word like কুকথা(bad words), কুমতলব(evil design), etc
