Стоп-тайм/ Stop time (англ. остановка, перерыв) - Внезапное прекращение равномерной метрической пульсации (граунд-бита) и ансамблевого звучания с их возобновлением через определенное время. Во время образующихся пауз солист, как правило, исполняет короткие импровизационные вставки (брейки). Характерный прием респонсорной техники джаза.
В груб превод: Внезапно спиране на равномерния ритъм (грундбит) и на оркестровото изпълнение и възобновяването им след определено време. По време на създалите се паузи солистът по правило изпълнява кратки импровизации (брейки). Характерен похват в техниката на джаза.
