a lower composite, which is unchanged with respect to Perfo-2000 and Ariane-5E, provides the bulk of the speed and altitude required to place payloads in orbit. It consists of a cryogenic main stage and two solid boosters.

an upper composite provides for the remainder of the velocity and
altitude increments required to reach the desired orbit and, once that orbit has been reached, injects the satellite(s) at the appropriate velocity and attitude. The configuration thus varies depending on the mission to be carried out: single, dual launch or constellations, intended orbit, payload mass etc.
