This term appears in a brief introduction of a building consultancy firm.

"Our building services department is now expanded to include expertise in remediation studies, forensics and construction supervision"

It doesn't seem like the commonly know legal term of "forensics" here. Anyone can help? Much appreciated

同意SOMSAK的观点，根据上下文，干脆叫做“司法鉴定”，读者自然明白是关于建筑的。实际上应该是指与司法鉴定相关的服务， 包括联系鉴定人，安排日程，现场陪同等。当然也许这个公司本身也有自己的持有执照的鉴定人员。

building在这里应该是建筑物，这个部门从事建筑物相关服务，和盖楼的概念应该不一样。纽约就有一个句叫作BUILDING DEPT，不是搞新楼建筑的，而是搞现存楼宇的管理的，相当与房管局或物业局，虽然被当地人翻译为楼宇管理局。

ＢＵＩＬＤＩＮＧ比achetecture, contruction, civil engineering意思要宽广。中文网页中“建筑工程司法鉴定”比较多，是因为在我国，与BUILDING相关的服务的种类太少，提到鉴定，一般就会被理解为新楼的鉴定和验收。如果你看我提供的链接上的解释，forensics engineering包含的范围很广，包括事故或灾害对现存楼宇的损害的法律评估等，也包括装修和RENOVATION等，这些内容，是无法被“建筑工程”所涵盖的。实际上这个词包括三个要素：1.建筑物。2.法律纠纷（主要指民事） 3.鉴定，评估和取证等服务。所以不妨译为：与建筑物相关的司法服务，或者“建筑纠纷鉴定，评估和取证服务”。实际上和私人侦探的活差不多，只不过是涉及建筑物，而且事情在明处。
