  -> 欢迎 is Simplified Chiense and 歡迎 is Traditional (for HK / TW). The post you mentioned refers to the pronunciation, which is different for Mandarin and Cantonese (and other Chinese dialects as well), but the writing is the same.
agree  Grace Liu: If you prefer a formal banner kind of saying, I would suggest 热烈欢迎, for a 4 character phrase is often more formal than a word of two characters.
