English to Chinese translations [PRO] Management / transcription | | English term or phrase: transcription | | This is used as a type of language service. I think mainland Chinese call it 轉錄. I need the traditional Chinese for this term. I just checked online and found some people translated it into 聽打, which is pretty accurate, but I am not sure whether this is a standard translation for this word for traditional Chinese users. Or any other better suggestion? Thanks. |

所謂「逐字聽寫」(Transcription exercise),就是把你所聽到每個字都寫下來。

"聽打" sounds like including "typing." "聽寫" should be closer to the meaning of "transcribe" since "scribe" means "write."

How about "錄音謄寫"? ("聽打" does sound strange and unprofessional.)

Here I guess "配音" is better for the context of language services. "旁白" is a little bit different. To be precise, it means "voice-over narration."

Probably. I'm not sure which expressions you are referring to. But it's my pleasure to share. |

Asker: language services companies usually provide transcription in a type-written form, 聽打sounds too abbreviated, though. Thanks!
Asker: Shirley, just to ask if voice-over should be 旁白or旁述in TC or something totally different? Thanks!
Asker: "配音" is different from voice-over. The English term is dubbing. You can check the term voice-over and find its definition online.
Asker: I am thinking whether I can translate it into 旁白配音just to sound a bit more common.
Asker: Shirley, thanks a lot. You are really my TC consultant. Do you think TC uses 音頻for audio,視頻for video? If not, what does TC use for these two terms?
Asker: Shirley, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my questions. I remember you were the one who answered my questions about TC expressions last time, right? Thanks!
