意思应该是“多久一次”，“多长时间一次”，指频率。但在有的句子里这样翻很别扭，如“During the last month, how often did you feel painful?", 请教一下，应该怎样翻才更好呢？

谢谢，多频繁和频率都可以，但是由于问卷还要让低学历的人看得懂，我觉得直接只用“经常”是否更好一点，如“在上个月，你经常感觉疼痛吗”。

and "feel painful" is correct. it's a "feel+adj" structure, like "I feel happy today". if you want to use a noun after "feel", it should be "feel the pain". "feel pain" is not correct.
