As I have tried to live understandingly in the experiences of my clients, I have gradually come to one negative conclusion about the good life. It seems to me that the good life is not any fixed state. It is not, in my estimation, a state of vertue, or contentment, or nirvana, or happiness. It is not a condition in which the individual is adjusted, or fulfilled, or actualized. Explanation:

涅磐是佛教用语，本来是指佛教修行的最高境界，是直到死亡的那一瞬间才能达到的。所以，涅磐也被理解为超越性的死亡，快乐的死亡。但现代有些人在比较宽泛的意义上使用这个词，指一种无欲无嗔、物我同一的精神状态。

我用的简体字库中没有木子底的那个 pan 字，姑且用“磐”代替。见谅。
