I can't think of a better translation than "彩线十字网" by the Asker. It can be easily and faithfully back translated. It also captures one of the intended functions of thread cross as to "net" evil spirits. Furthermore, it fits the description of "thread cross" in Britannica Encyclopedia which describes it as resembling a cobweb.
