潛水歷史在1990年代的重大發展,
怎麼翻聽起來比較通俗?

Explanation:
From searching the web, tech diving deals with the way the air is mixed and compressed. As opposed to recreational diving.

>>> \"出櫃\"(comes out of the closet)好像近幾年來常被用來形容同性戀...但在這個領域您會怎麼翻, 讓它通俗又不失原味?

IMHO here the Chinese should be somewhere along the lines of 面世. I\'d suggest 日益普遍 or 日益受人欢迎

Francie, Scratch everything I suggested before.

It just hit me that here they are talking about the development of technical diving. In the 90\'s tech diving literally shed the closet previously required in deep sea diving.

I just now realized this in connection with your previous post seeking suggestions on \"closet tech diving\"

技术性潜水丢弃(潜水)封闭柜

换句话说,90 年代前深水技术性潜水必须使用封闭柜, 而90 年代期间不再存在这一需要。

Chamber is the right term. I\'m not sure whether it\'s decompression chamber or hyperbaric chamber. The following pdf explains some of the basic science involved in deep sea diving and space exploration. Seems to me the advanced knowledge of how to mix the air enabled doing away with this decompression chamber.

agree  Wenjer Leuschel: 技術性潛水出櫃--何如?// 在台灣是說:同志出櫃.

  -> Thanks, Wenjer. I think it's fine if the meaning of 出櫃 is well understood. I don't have a feel for it due to being out of touch for too long.// Wenjer,I sure am surprised that 同志 now has the meaning of being gay.
