Agriculture / colloquial, possibly slang
English term or phrase: buck
You ever bucked barley before?

Nažalost, ovo je jedini kontekst koji imam. Što se to zapravo radi s ječmom? Postoji li neki poseban izraz ili ću to morati prevesti kad "raditi s ječmom"?

Explanation:
žnjeti ječam

Pogledajte objašnjenje:
... Apart from the men's dialect, there are other things in the text which indicate that the events are located on a farm. The swamper asks George if they are going to "buck barley", which means to harvest barley. They sit on boxes instead of chairs and George shuffles cards. Playing cards was then and propably is still today one of working men's favorite pass times...

Hvala oboma, no čini se da je Sherefedin bio brži.
Btw, radi se upravo o filmu "Mice and Men" prema Steinbeckovom romanu.
