Sukladno članku 47. Zakona o radu, članku 49. Zakona o državnoj službi, članku 50. Zakona o namještenicima te članku 34. Uredbe, i članku 20. Kolektivnog ugovora, uposleniku se može odobriti neplaćeno odsustvo sa rada do 30 radnih dana u kalendarskoj godini i to:

- za pripremanje i polaganje ispita 30 dana
- za sudjelovanje u stručnim seminarima 10 dana
- za gradnju i popravku kuće ili stana 10 dana
- za njegu člana obitelji 10 dana
- za sudjelovanje na kulturnim, športskim
susretima i drugim sličnim slučajevima 10 dana.

The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (Pub.L. 103-3, enacted February 5, 1993) is a United States labor law allowing an employee to take unpaid leave due to a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform his job or to care for a sick family member or to care for a new son or daughter (including by birth, adoption or foster care). The bill was among the first signed into law by President Bill Clinton in his first term, fulfilling a campaign promise.
