Stress, especially in an interpersonal context, is another important concept. Stress, according to Selye (1956, 1974), is a nonspecific (that is, common) result of any demand upon the body, whether the effect is mental or somatic. As he noted most recent1y, "The formulation of this definition, based on objective indicators such as bodily and chemical changes that appear after any demand, has brought the subject up from the level of cocktail party chitchat into the domain of science" (p. 7). The "demand on the body" in terms of this book is the psychosocial or systemic stressor.

ne znam trebam li prevesti doslovce ovaj dio s koktel zabavom, pa napraviti neku aluziju, ili da se nekako snađem s opisom.
