Explanation: zvaný též pulpitum či pyrgus
Kvůli dobré slyšitelnosti předčítaných posvátných textů je třeba vhodně volit místo pro lektora, jak je už o tom zmínka v knize Nehemjáš (8,4) a jak to předepisovalo Římské pontifikále . O vyvýšeném místě s čtecím pultem či bez něho, odkud lektor přednášel čtení, je už řeč v pramenech ze 3. a 4. století . Později se za tím účelem zřizuje ambon , opatřený parapetem a čtecím pultem, který se umísťoval na vhodné místo v přechodu oltářního prostoru do lodi kostela.
Ambon tak představoval vyvýšenou podestu přístupnou po schodech, zvanou též pulpitum či pyrgus

Asker: No jo, jenže lektorium je anglicky rood screen, která bývá o kus dál západně od pulpitum (říká Wikipedie - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulpitum). Nevím, jestli to můžu zaměňovat :-(
