Předpokládám, že jde o nějaký sorbent nebo sypký materiál. Ten lze měřit na objemové jednotky (litr borůvek) nebo na hmotnostní jednotky (kilo jablek). ;-)
No a pak se povrch materiálu vztáhne na jednotku objemu (by volume) nebo na jednotku hmotnosti (by mass) a přepočítacím faktorem je relativní huistota sypaného materiálu.
