V trochu jiném kontextu, ale smysl podobný:
"Všechny pokyny vkládané do systému se neprovedou okamžitě, ale shromažďují se do denní dávky (batch). Po skončení pracovní doby začíná noční zpracování dávky. Počítač postupně vloží všechny změny na jednotlivých účtech (platby apod.) a automaticky připíše úroky narostlé za uplynulý den, vše označí datem uplynulého dne. Poté přepne datum (tzv. virtuální půlnoc) na datum dalšího dne. Proces trvá několik hodin, při technických problémech se někdy protáhne až do dalšího dne."
