English to Czech translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Engineering: Industrial / Agreements, Contracts
English term or phrase:"witnesseth"
It's on the second page of the agreement:
"...
1. W I T N E S S E T H
WHEREAS, X is an enterprise [...];
WHEREAS, the Supplier is [...];
WHEREAS, the Parties have agreed [...];
..."
I know it's the archaic 3sg form, but what's the Czech for it? Many thanks in advance! Petusek
Máte pravdu. :) Bod 2. zní "PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES" a bod 3. je "EFFECTIVENESS, DURATION AND TERMINATION".
{{začátek citace}}
- Hereinafter referred to as “Agreement” -
Between
{zde je název první společnosti}
{ulice}
{město}
{země}
- Hereinafter referred to as “BT” –
and
XXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXX
XXXXXX
XXXXXXX
- hereinafter referred to as “Supplier” –
{název první společnosti} and the Supplier are hereinafter sometimes collectively referred to as the “ Parties “ or individually as a “ Party”.
{{konec citace}}
"NOW, THERFORE, in consideration of the premises and the mutual promises hereinafter set forth, the Parties each of itself and for those of its affiliates supplying or procuring Products and Services hereunder, hereby agree as follows:"
"... WHEREAS, {X} is an enterprise operating globally and active in the {Y} business an has broad skills in the markets in which it operates;
WHEREAS, the Supplier is a leading manufacturer and supplier of {Z};
WHEREAS, the Parties have agreed to enter into a Long Term Supply relationship pertaining to the supply by the Supplier and its affiliates as set out in Exhibit 1 (“Supplier’s Affiliates”) to {X} and its affiliates as set out in Exhibit 2 (“{X} Affiliates”) of products described in Exhibit 3;
An Old English form of the verb "to witness," this word crops up in a number of boilerplate contracts, as in the preamble to an insurance policy that states “this policy witnesseth that . . .”
