Explanation: I have several friends who filed their their spouses on their own and they all received their GCs with no issues. If it makes you feel better then I suggest you go that route. But if you feel comfortable to gather the information on your own then by all means. Honestly, it is easy. I'm in the process of filing for my wife. I'm a citizen but she filed through her employer and now after seeing the PD retrogress so badly we decided to go the family route.
It is taking me a littler while because I want to gather everything that is required so that way there is no need for RFE, (although they still may send one regardless, just trying to cut them off at the pass so to speak), which will only slow down the process.
Additionally, like everyone rightly stated, you do not need to close the AOS through your employer, unless USCIS request.
It is best to leave it open in the event it actually gets approved before the other application.
I have a question though, for anyone who can answer, does the applicant need to do another physical examination if the other one was done less than a yr ago and USCIS has the documents to prove it?
Just wondering, my wife is willing to go through with it again, and I'm inclined to tell her to just do it again so there is no confusion, but just curious.
Anyone?

to IZA3NEE:
1) USCIS will never adjudicate any 485 unless one is withdrawn , you cannot have tow immigranti visa petitions at the same time , one has to be cancelled
2) there can be many things that we do not even know what a lawyer knows
z tohoto vyplývá, že se jedná o vízum na sloučení rodiny/návštěvu rodinných příslušníků "přitáhnou se", myslím že se dříve říkalo zvací vízum
