On rally vehicles, the bonnet is secured to the body of the vehicle using a pin (somewhat larger than a safety pin, I hasten to add!) so that it can be opened very quickly if necessary. Quite what the Danish word for the latter is, I'm not sure but its function is to 'fastgøre' the 'motorhjelm'.
