English term or phrase:Water Crib
Chicago has Water Cribs which take in water from Lake Michigan and pump it two miles into Chicago. Vandpumper and Vandkrybber are attractive, but since it is not called a Water Pump and Vandkrybber is not a popular word, I need help.
A Water Crib is noramally in the middle of a lake. It doesnt hold any water, nor does it need to. It sits in the middle of a lake. The Chicago Water Cribs pump water from the bottom up to the top where it goes down a pipe to a tunnel under the lake bed.
