English to Danish translations [PRO]
Transport / Transportation / Shipping / Postoffice
English term or phrase: box
I need the most coomon word for the box used at the postoffice to send something. But it is not a box for letters, it's the box for packing things.

Pakke

Explanation:
The national Danish postoffice "Post Danmark" use the term "pakke".

Example sentence(s):
  • Du kan hente og sende dine pakker i over 900 posthuse eller postbutikker - eller hos landpostbuddet.
  • Pakker, der er indleveret ved et posthus eller postbutik inden normal lukketid (dog senest kl. 17.30), er ude hos modtageren hverdagen (mandag-fredag) efter.

(post)æske

Explanation:
Postpakke.. indicated in my view a box sent or to be sent through the postal services.
Kasse .. can be full or empty and it has a tends to have a certain voume.
Æske is what PostDanmark calls the packaging they sell. Interesting, as 'æske' is commonly seen as something relatively small...

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
agree  Marianne Sorensen: I think they use 'æske' (to be bought from post office) in order to avoid confusion with 'pakke', which could be any package sent by people.
